What's more, yoga:

·         Boosts self esteem

·         Improves concentration and creativity

·         Lowers fat

·         Improves circulation

·         Stimulates the immune system

·         Creates sense of well being and calm.

The meaning of yoga comes from the Sanskrit root "Yog" "to join" or "to unite," and indicates the total integration of the individual soul with the supreme or divine soul to obtain relief from pain and suffering. Charaka wrote that yoga is the means of salvation (moksa), which is the end of all miseries (vedana). YOGA is an ancient form of physical movement that has its roots in INDIAN culture and philosophy. The practice of YOGA employs the use of various physical motions that are believed to be essential to achieve a sense of both physical and mental well-being.

Principles of Yoga

Patanjali's Eight Principles of Yoga

    1. Abstinence (yama)
    2. Observance (niyama)
    3. Posture (asana)
    4. Regulation of breath (pranayama)
    5. Withdrawal of Senses (pratyahara)
    6. Concentration (dharana)
    7. Meditation (dhyana)

                           8.    Super Consciousness (samadhi)

Yoga is regarded as a divine science of life, revealed to enlightened sages in Meditation. Stone seals in the Indus Valley which date back to around 3000BC show Yogic postures and this is the earliest archaeological evidence of Yoga 's origin. These Yogic postures, resemble Lord Shiva and Parvathi (Indian God and Goddess) performing various Aasanaas (Postures) and practicing meditation. The Vedas - huge collection of ancient INDIAN scriptures - dating back to 2500 BC first mention Yoga . The tradition of yoga was born in India several thousand years ago. Its founders were the Rishis and Maharishis, great saints and sages. Yoga was also mentioned in the Upanishads , the Upanishads, and the Puranas (holy texts of the Hindu religion). Infact the Upanishads provide the main foundation of Yoga teachings.

Yoga in Rishikesh

The Path of Yoga and Meditation :- an ancient Indian science & culture, a gradual, systematic & scientific way to release tension in day to day life different methods to overcome stress and a perfect way to live.

Today we live in a very stressful world with all economic uncertainties, high pressured competitiveness and social complexities. All these factors affect our mind leading to emotional imbalance, confusion, depression and lack of proper sleep. We have high rates of suicide, mental illness and other such problems. These emotional misbalance are often caused by the over or under secretion of glands, which have tremendous effect on our body and mind.

HATH YOGA helps to improve intake of oxygen and capacity of lungs, release muscular tension, de-toxify the body and internal organs, stimulate glands - balancing the quantity of hormones in blood, Canalizes the emotions, revitalize the nervous system and calm the mind.

Performing breathing asana properly and systematically gives subtle pressure on various glands, restores the proper secretion of hormones and gives emotional balances, will power, confidence, peace of mind and good physical health.

One can combine yoga with many other activities in Rishikesh
